A day in the life of a trustee! Today’s “did you know” comes from the SAGE forum this evening. While about 20% of GCISD students are identified as GT, more than half of all students take some form of advanced academics, staring as early as 8th grade with Algebra I. Advanced academics are for everyone!

Also spent the afternoon talking to Dove Elementary First Graders about their egg science project. Got to bring a special guest and get a look at the much-needed renovation to the library under the 2016 bond. I wish we’d had that big screen when I was reading to my PreK 3s!

Squeezed in a Sonic Happy Hour stop–where the manager asked about our school calendar, to help plan for rushes. Being a trustee isn’t only about attending meetings! (Sonic is a great supporter of our schools, by the way, and a favorite of classroom teachers district-wide.)

And speaking of meetings, we had one of those, too! Special meeting to approve change orders to contracts to get the weather damage repairs going for Heritage Middle and the Early Childhood Development Center(a great benefit for our teachers!).

Although it was my day off from work, there’s never really a day off from servant leadership.
Getting it done for GCISD!
